I swing at the air, disappointed. I was really looking forward to trying the simulator out, but if Hyun says it’s dangerous, I’d rather not stir that Beedrill nest. Before the group disperses, Hyun lets us know where the club is on the form. As I look at the form, my stomach starts to growl. Sounds like a good time for lunch. “Alright, well thanks for the forms, sir. I’ll get the other copy to Page when I see him.” I wave goodbye and head out towards the student center for some lunch.
I arrive at the student center famished, so I grab a sandwich, a soda and some chips, and take a seat. I look through the form as I take a bite out of my sandwich. Most of it seems pretty straightforward enough, so I think I won’t feel out of place in the club. Speaking of clubs, I wonder where the gang ran off to?

After finishing a gnarly cover, the old man gives a bit of applause. “You play like pro! You are in band, yes?” I tilt my head a bit. “Sort of.” The old man raises his eyebrows. “You play like you belong in good rock and roll band. I show you something.” The old man retreats to his spot at the front counter, looking for something. After a bit of rummaging, he walks back to me and hands me a flyer. ‘Battle of the Bands - Free Admission! This Saturday!’ Looks interesting, I wonder if Sheena would be up for this. “I think you have fun, you go!” I nod in agreement. “Yeah, definitely.” I look at my watch. “I’d love to stay and play some more but I’ve gotta jet. It was good meeting you, uh…”
The old man grabs my hand and shakes it. “Zuul. It good to meet you.” Just Zuul? Okay, I guess. “Alright, well I’m Page. Good to meet you.” Zuul tilts his head in curiosity. “Page? Like Jimmy Page, right?” I nod. “Yeah, like him, but I’m nowhere near as good as him, I’m afraid.” Zuul and I share a laugh. Calming down, I take the guitar off, shut down the amp, and place the guitar back on its display. I manage to get a glimpse of the price tag - a whopping 1.8M price tag. I sigh. I push the door open and wave goodbye. “I’ll see you around, Zuul.” He returns the gesture.
As I walk back to the academy, a lot of thoughts go through my head: the Music Club, the golden Les Paul, the free show on Saturday, and Sheena. There’s a lot on my plate, that’s for sure. At this point, all I can do is hope. Hope that things go my way, that the music club takes off without incident, that nobody decides to buy the Les Paul, and most importantly, that Sheena doesn’t have plans this weekend. I’ve gotta make a move soon...
