I know it can be brutal to say and the developers are very touchy-feely about when this subject comes up but I think I can speak for a lot of us that are still coming back to this website and leaving empty handed and with no info at all. Couldn't the devs just give us a little info or literally ANYTHING?!? It's been a year and almost a half that the last update was put on the site. Just something... anything?

Well, the lead developer has started drawing again. He drew 1 character from Pokemon Sword, and a bunch from Fire Emblem in the past two weeks. Which is better than nothing.

I still think the game is dead. I would recommend moving on.

The game’s not dead. A while ago on Facebook, they officially said that they would let us know should they ever stop working on it. Also DM has stated a couple times recently that it is still being worked on and that the official Twitter, Facebook, etc, will post when there is something significant worth posting. Check his Twitter. :)

I went back and checked, the Facebook update came in on March 27th this year, so give or take about 6 months ago. It’s been a while but this is certainly not the end of the line. 6 months since the last update for a fan project with a very small and busy team, this doesn’t seem like dire straits to me.

Things are just busy, life does come first. Projects like these take a lot of time.

Life does come first, and these projects do take a lot of time. But if they can't find time during summer vacation to work on something, they're never going to have the time. Especially if the developers are working on multiple passion projects at once. Does anyone here think that the game will be released within the next 10 years?

The only reason why I'm here right now is because I posed a challenge for them to do something. I'll be back tomorrow to see if anything happens (Devs, if you're planning on shutting me up, and aren't ready yet, please post something and I'll wait a couple of days), and if nothing happens, I'll expect this game to come out the same day Mother 3 is released outside of Japan.

We should all move on. I'm sure that if the project does get revitalized, we'll find it again. We found this game once, we'd find it again. Let's remove all expectations and pressures from the developers, and all move on from this game. It would have been nice if the game was released, but it was not meant to be.

You realize that most adults don't get summer vacations, right?

I do. I just hope that most of them aren't adults... or at least don't have "real" jobs yet. When you're dealing with college students (or younger), you expect people to get really busy during the semester, and that's why there are these several month-long breaks where nothing is happening.

If these people are "adults", and they are taking these long hiatuses, then the project is dead. Adults tend to have more predictable schedules. As an "adult", I can tell you first hand how boring, and monotonous every day of work is. Sometimes the only thing getting you through the day, is the promise that when you get home, you can go do something that you like. If they don't like working on this, they won't. Free time as an adult is more precious (but more predictable), and you'll only do the things that are the most fun, or the easiest to do, or things you must do. If this is not fun, or easy, or must be done... it will not get done. And picking up a coding or writing project after several months, where you don't have a good reason for not doing it (like school) is so hard. It is almost easier to just start off from scratch, which is not going to happen with a project this big.

And that's assuming adults have free time in the first place. If you have a significant other, and you get 4 hours a day of free time, you should probably spend a lot of it with them. Then if you have kids, you might have 30 minutes a day for yourself. Are you going to spend those 30 minutes trying to remember what you were doing 6 months ago on a project, or are you going to watch some TV? Every year that goes by makes it harder and harder for the devs to make this project work.

At this point, it would probably be best for the devs to recruit a new team (with more free time, and maybe summers off) to pick up the project from here (and the devs would move into a more administrative role). But good luck finding new people who would be willing to work on the project from here. They waited too long. No one comes here anymore, other than to argue about the status of the project. If you want to save the project, get people excited for this game again. After that, maybe we can make something happen.

Half of a year is a long time to not hear anything. It's easy to take the devs' word that it's still being worked on, but it would be nice to maybe hear a little about progress now and then, even if it's non-specific. A long silence goes a long way towards making people doubt that things are still happening.

The fact that they've done overhauls of art and then over a major supporting character has definitely caused a lot of understandable kinds of delays, but it's hard to rest easy when we have no idea how things are going, either in patching up what needs adjusting, or in breaking new ground. They used to show off a lot of art, but it's been mostly pretty quiet as of late.

I dont actually expect this game to ever be released. Basically 6 months of radio silence. Be nice if they just said anything. Or maybe let someone else take over the project

They did a small info update last month on Facebook and Twitter. It's not really anything new besides a "we're still here post" so take that as you will but the project isn't dead.
